They were demonstrating their new 'eye-AF' technology - that works with humans and even animals - that is quite simply the most remarkable auto focus system there is. They use AI to recognise and lock on, then track, eyes within the frame - with astounding accuracy and speed.

And Sony are excellent at back porting features to existing products - where, of course, the product has sufficient hardware to cope with the new demands. This particular tech is coming to almost the entire current range.
